Trận lụt chấm dứt

1Đức Chúa Trời nhớ đến Nô-ê cùng các loài thú rừng và gia súc ở trong tàu với ông, nên Ngài khiến một trận gió thổi ngang qua mặt đất và nước rút xuống. 2Các nguồn của vực lớn và các cửa đập trên trời đóng lại, mưa từ trời không đổ xuống nữa. 3Nước rút dần khỏi mặt đất. Sau một trăm năm mươi ngày, nước mới xuống thấp. 4Vào ngày mười bảy, tháng bảy, chiếc tàu tấp trên núi A-ra-rát. 5Nước cứ tiếp tục hạ dần cho đến tháng mười. Ngày mồng một tháng mười, các đỉnh núi mới lộ ra.

6Sau bốn mươi ngày Nô-ê mở cửa sổ mà ông đã trổ trên tàu, 7và thả con quạ ra. Quạ lượn đi lượn lại cho đến khi mặt đất khô hẳn. 8Ông cũng thả con bồ câu ra để xem nước đã rút bớt trên mặt đất chưa. 9Nhưng bồ câu không tìm được chỗ đáp nên bay trở về tàu với ông, vì nước còn phủ khắp mặt đất. Nô-ê đưa tay bắt lấy bồ câu đem vào tàu với mình. 10Ông đợi thêm bảy ngày, rồi lại thả bồ câu ra khỏi tàu. 11Đến chiều, bồ câu trở về với ông, và kìa, mỏ nó tha một lá ô-liu tươi! Nô-ê hiểu rằng nước đã rút bớt trên mặt đất. 12Ông lại đợi thêm bảy ngày nữa, rồi thả con bồ câu ra; và lần nầy bồ câu không trở về với ông nữa.

13Ngày mồng một, tháng giêng, năm thứ sáu trăm lẻ một,#8:13 bản Bảy Mươi thêm: đời Nô-ê. nước đã rút cạn trên mặt đất. Nô-ê giở mui tàu, và nhìn thấy mặt đất đã ráo. 14Ngày hai mươi bảy tháng hai, đất đã hoàn toàn khô ráo.

Nô-ê ra khỏi tàu

15Đức Chúa Trời phán với Nô-ê: 16“Con hãy ra khỏi tàu cùng với vợ, các con trai và các con dâu mình. 17Hãy đem ra khỏi tàu các sinh vật đã ở với con, là những loài xác thịt như chim, các loài thú, các loài bò sát trên đất, để chúng sinh sôi nẩy nở và gia tăng gấp bội trên đất.” 18Vậy, Nô-ê cùng với vợ, các con trai và các con dâu ra khỏi tàu. 19Tất cả các loài thú rừng, loài bò sát trên đất, loài chim cùng mọi vật sống động trên đất đều ra khỏi tàu, loài nào theo loài nấy.

Nô-ê dâng tế lễ thiêu

20Bấy giờ Nô-ê lập một bàn thờ cho Đức Giê-hô-va. Ông bắt các loài thú thanh sạch và các loài chim thanh sạch làm tế lễ thiêu dâng lên bàn thờ. 21Đức Giê-hô-va vui hưởng mùi thơm và tự nhủ: “Ta sẽ chẳng bao giờ vì loài người mà nguyền rủa đất nữa, dù tâm địa của loài người vẫn xấu xa từ lúc còn niên thiếu. Ta sẽ không bao giờ tiêu diệt các loài sinh vật như Ta đã làm nữa.

22Ngày nào quả đất còn,

Thì mùa gieo giống và gặt hái, mùa lạnh và nóng,

Mùa hạ và mùa đông, ngày và đêm,

Sẽ chẳng bao giờ chấm dứt.”

Genesis 8

1But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. 2Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens had been closed, and the rain had stopped falling from the sky. 3The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down, 4and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. 5The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.

6After forty days Noah opened a window he had made in the ark 7and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. 8Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. 10He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 11When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. 12He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.

13By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.

15Then God said to Noah, 16“Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 17Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”

18So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. 19All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another.

20Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 21The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though#8:21 Or humans, for every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

22“As long as the earth endures,

seedtime and harvest,

cold and heat,

summer and winter,

day and night

will never cease.”
