Psalms 33
33
Praise God Who Creates and Saves
1Sing to the Lord, you who do what is right.
Honest people should praise him.
2Praise the Lord on the harp.
Make music for him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3Sing a new song to him.
Play well and joyfully.
4God’s word is true.
Everything he does is right.
5He loves what is right and fair.
The Lord’s love fills the earth.
6The sky was made at the Lord’s command.
By the breath from his mouth, he made all the stars.
7He gathered the water in the sea into a heap.
He made the great ocean stay in its place.
8All the earth should worship the Lord.
The whole world should fear him.
9He spoke, and it happened.
He commanded, and it appeared.
10The Lord upsets the plans of nations.
He ruins all their plans.
11But the Lord’s plans will stand forever.
His ideas will last from now on.
12Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord.
Happy are the people he chose for his very own.
13The Lord looks down from heaven.
He sees every person.
14From his throne he watches
everyone who lives on earth.
15He made their hearts.
He understands everything they do.
16No king is saved by his great army.
No warrior escapes by his great strength.
17Horses can’t bring victory.
They can’t save by their strength.
18But the Lord looks after those who fear him.
He watches over those who put their hope in his love.
19He saves them from death.
He spares their lives in times of hunger.
20So our hope is in the Lord.
He is our help, our shield to protect us.
21We rejoice in him.
We trust his holy name.
22Lord, show your love to us
as we put our hope in you.

Psalms 33
33
1Let those who do good shout for joy—those who live right should praise him!
2Praise the Lord with the lyre, play music to him on the ten-stringed harp.
3Sing a new song to him; play your instruments well and shout for joy.
4For the word of the Lord is true,#33:4 Literally, “upright.” and he is trustworthy in everything he does.
5He loves all that is good and right; the earth is full of the Lord's trustworthy love.
6The Lord spoke the word and the heavens were made; his mouth breathed all the stars into existence.
7He gathers the waters of the sea together, he keeps the ocean depths in store.
8Let all the earth show reverence to the Lord; let all the world's inhabitants be in awe of him.
9For he spoke and the world came into existence; he gave the command and it was created.
10The Lord foils the decisions of the nations, he frustrates the plans of the peoples,
11But the Lord's plan stands forever—what he decides lasts for all generations.
12Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen as specially belonging#33:12. Literally, “inheritance.” to him.
13The Lord looks from heaven and sees the whole of humanity,
14from his throne he watches all those who live on earth.
15He created their minds,#33:15. Literally, “hearts.” so he knows everything they do.
16Even the greatest army cannot save a king; the greatest strength cannot save a warrior.
17Don't deceive yourself: a warhorse can't give you victory—even its incredible strength won't save you.
18The Lord watches over those who reverently follow him, those who place their hope in his trustworthy love
19to save them from death and to keep them alive when famine strikes.
20We place our confidence in the Lord; he is our help and our defender.#33:20. Literally, “shield.”
21We are so happy about him, for we trust in his holy character.
22Lord, let your trustworthy love rest upon us as we hope in you.
