2 Timothy (2 Ti) 2
2
1So then, you, my son, be empowered by the grace that comes from the Messiah Yeshua. 2And the things you heard from me, which were supported by many witnesses, these things commit to faithful people, such as will be competent to teach others also. 3Accept your share in suffering disgrace as a good soldier of the Messiah Yeshua. 4No soldier on duty gets involved with civilian affairs, since he has to please his commanding officer. 5Also an athlete can’t win a contest unless he competes according to the rules. 6The farmer who has done the hard work should be the first to receive a share of the harvest. 7Think about what I am saying, for the Lord will enable you to understand everything.
8Remember Yeshua the Messiah, who was raised from the dead, who was a descendant of David. This is the Good News I proclaim, 9and for which I am suffering to the point of being bound in chains — but the Word of God is not bound in chains! 10Why do I persevere through it all? For the sake of those who have been chosen, so that they too may obtain the deliverance that comes through the Messiah Yeshua, with eternal glory. 11Here is a statement you can trust:
If we have died with him,
we will also live with him.
12If we persevere,
we will also rule with him
If we disown him,
he will also disown us.
13If we are faithless,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself.
14Keep reminding people of this, and charge them solemnly before the Lord not to engage in word-battles. They accomplish nothing useful and are a catastrophe for the hearers! 15Do all you can to present yourself to God as someone worthy of his approval, as a worker with no need to be ashamed, because he deals straightforwardly with the Word of the Truth. 16But keep away from godless babbling, for those who engage in it will only become more ungodly, 17and their teaching will eat away at people like gangrene. Hymenaeus and Philetus are among these; 18they have missed the mark, as far as the truth is concerned, by saying that our resurrection has already taken place; and they are overturning some people’s faith. 19Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, stamped with these words:
“The Lord knows his own,”
and,
“Let everyone who claims he belongs to the Lord
stand apart from wrongdoing.”
20In a large house there are dishes and pots not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. That is, some are meant for honorable use and some for dishonorable. 21If a person keeps himself free of defilement by the latter, he will be a vessel set aside for honorable use by the master of the house and ready for every kind of good work. 22So, flee the passions of youth; and, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love and peace. 23But stay away from stupid and ignorant controversies — you know that they lead to fights, 24and a slave of the Lord shouldn’t fight. On the contrary, he should be kind to everyone, a good teacher, and not resentful when mistreated. 25Also he should be gentle as he corrects his opponents. For God may perhaps grant them the opportunity to turn from their sins, acquire full knowledge of the truth, 26come to their senses and escape the trap of the Adversary, after having been captured alive by him to do his will.

1Thou, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that [is] in Christ Jesus,
2and the things that thou didst hear from me through many witnesses, these things be committing to stedfast men, who shall be sufficient also others to teach;
3thou, therefore, suffer evil as a good soldier of Jesus Christ;
4no one serving as a soldier did entangle himself with the affairs of life, that him who did enlist him he may please;
5and if also any one may strive, he is not crowned, except he may strive lawfully;
6the labouring husbandman it behoveth first of the fruits to partake;
7be considering what things I say, for the Lord give to thee understanding in all things.
8Remember Jesus Christ, raised out of the dead, of the seed of David, according to my good news,
9in which I suffer evil — unto bonds, as an evil-doer, but the word of God hath not been bound;
10because of this all things do I endure, because of the choice ones, that they also salvation may obtain that [is] in Christ Jesus, with glory age-during.
11Stedfast [is] the word: For if we died together — we also shall live together;
12if we do endure together — we shall also reign together; if we deny [him], he also shall deny us;
13if we are not stedfast, he remaineth stedfast; to deny himself he is not able.
14These things remind [them] of, testifying fully before the Lord — not to strive about words to nothing profitable, but to the subversion of those hearing;
15be diligent to present thyself approved to God — a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth;
16and the profane vain talkings stand aloof from, for to more impiety they will advance,
17and their word as a gangrene will have pasture, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18who concerning the truth did swerve, saying the rising again to have already been, and do overthrow the faith of some;
19sure, nevertheless, hath the foundation of God stood, having this seal, ‘The Lord hath known those who are His,’ and ‘Let him depart from unrighteousness — every one who is naming the name of Christ.’
20And in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honour, and some to dishonour:
21if, then, any one may cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified and profitable to the master — to every good work having been prepared,
22and the youthful lusts flee thou, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those calling upon the Lord out of a pure heart;
23and the foolish and uninstructed questions be avoiding, having known that they beget strife,
24and a servant of the Lord it behoveth not to strive, but to be gentle unto all, apt to teach, patient under evil,
25in meekness instructing those opposing — if perhaps God may give to them repentance to an acknowledging of the truth,
26and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.
