97
1The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; # Ps 93:1; 96:10–11
let the many coastlands be joyful!
2Clouds and darkness surround Him; # Ex 19:9
righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. # Ps 89:14
3Fire goes before Him
and burns up His enemies all around. # Ps 18:8; 50:3
4His lightnings light up the world;
the earth sees and trembles. # Ps 77:18; 104:32
5The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the Lord of all the earth. # Jos 3:11; Na 1:5
6The heavens declare His righteousness, # Ps 50:6
and all the peoples see His glory. # Ps 19:1
7Let all who serve graven images be put to shame,
who boast of idols;
worship Him, all you gods. # Isa 42:17; Heb 1:6
8Zion hears and is glad,
and the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of Your judgments, O Lord. # Ps 48:11
9For You, O Lord, are Most High above all the earth; # Ps 83:18
You are exalted far above all gods. # Ps 95:3
10You who love the Lord, hate evil! # Ps 34:14
He preserves the souls of His saints; # Pr 2:8
He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11Light is sown for the righteous, # Job 22:28; Ps 112:4
and joy for the upright in heart.
12Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name! # Ps 30:4
