77
For the Music Director. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.
1My voice rises to God, thus will I cry aloud;
my voice rises to God, thus will He hear me. # Ps 3:4
2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; # Ps 50:15
in the night my hand was stretched out without ceasing;
my soul refused to be comforted. # Ge 37:35
3I remembered God, and was troubled; # Ps 61:2
I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah
4You hold my eyelids open;
I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
5I have considered the days of old,
the years long ago. # Dt 32:7; Ps 143:5
6I call to remembrance my song in the night; # Ps 42:8
I meditate within my heart, # Ps 4:4
and my spirit ponders:
7“Will the Lord reject forever? # Ps 85:5
Will He be favorable no more? # Ps 85:1
8Has His mercy ceased forever?
Have His promises failed for all time? # Ro 9:6
9Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has He in anger withheld His tender mercies?” Selah
10Then I said, “This is my grief;
but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
11I will remember the works of the Lord;
surely I will remember Your wonders of old. # Ps 105:5; 143:5
12I will meditate on all Your work
and muse on Your mighty deeds.
13Your way, O God, is holy;
what god is great like our God? # Ex 15:11; Ps 73:17
14You are the God who works wonders; # Ps 72:18
You have declared Your strength among the peoples.
15You have with Your arm redeemed Your people, # Ex 6:6; Dt 9:29
the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
16The waters saw You, O God;
the waters saw You, they were afraid; # Ex 14:21; Jos 3:15–16
the depths also trembled.
17The clouds poured out water;
the skies gave forth thunder;
Your arrows flashed back and forth. # Ps 18:14
18The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
the lightnings lit up the world;
the earth trembled and shook. # Ps 97:4
19Your way was through the sea,
Your path through the great waters; # Hab 3:15
yet Your footsteps were unseen.
20You led Your people like a flock # Ex 13:21; Ps 78:52
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
