Psalms 64
64
For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.
1Hear my voice, O God, concerning my complaint;
preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
2Hide me from the secret schemes of the wicked, # Ps 56:6
from the turmoil of the workers of iniquity,
3who sharpen their tongues like a sword,
and aim bitter words like arrows, # Ps 11:2; 58:7
4that they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear. # Ps 55:19
5They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
they talk of laying snares secretly; # Ps 140:5
they say, “Who will see them?” # Ps 10:11
6They devise injustice,
saying “We have perfected a secret plot.”
For the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.
7But God will shoot an arrow at them; # Ps 7:12–13
suddenly they will be wounded.
8So He will bring ruin to them
with their own tongues; # Pr 12:13; 18:7
all who see them will shake their heads.
9All men will fear,
and will declare the work of God; # Ps 40:3; Jer 51:10
they will wisely consider His deeds.
10The righteous will be glad in the Lord,
and take refuge in Him.
And all the upright in heart will exult.
