Ps 108:6–13
For the Music Director. A Miktam of David to teach. To the melody of “Lily of the Testimony,” when he struggled with Aram Naharaim and with Aram Zobah and when Joab returned from striking down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
1O God, You have rejected us; # Ps 44:9 You have broken our defenses;
You have been displeased; oh, restore us. # Ps 80:3
2You have made the earth tremble; You have split it open; # 2Ch 7:14
heal its breaches, # Isa 30:26 for it is shaking.
3You have shown Your people hardship; # Ps 71:20
You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger. # Isa 51:17
4You have given a banner to those who fear You, # Ps 20:5; Isa 11:12
that they may flee to it from the bow. # 60:4 Or for the truth.    Selah
5That Your beloved may be delivered,
save with Your right hand and answer us! # Ps 17:7; 108:6–13
6God has spoken in His holiness:
“With exultation will I divide Shechem, # Ge 12:6
and measure out the Valley of Sukkoth.
7Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
Ephraim also is My helmet; # Dt 33:17
Judah is My scepter; # Ge 49:10
8Moab is My wash basin;
upon Edom # 2Sa 8:14 will I cast My shoe;
Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.” # 2Sa 8:1–2
9Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
10Have You not rejected us, O God?
And will You not go forth with our armies, O God? # Jos 7:12; Ps 108:11
11O grant us help against the adversary,
for vain is the help of man. # Ps 146:3
12With God we shall do valiantly,
for it is He who will tread down our enemies. # Ps 44:5; Isa 63:3
