Ezekiel 45

45
The Holy District
1Moreover, when you divide by lot the land for inheritance, # Nu 34:13; Eze 48:29 you shall offer an allotment to the Lord, a holy portion of the land. The length shall be the length of twenty-five thousand cubits, # 45:1 About 8 miles, or 13 kilometers; and in vv. 3, 5, and 6. and the width shall be twenty thousand. # 45:1 About 61/2 miles, or 11 kilometers. It shall be holy throughout its territory all around. 2Of this there shall be a square plot for the sanctuary, # Eze 42:16–20 five hundred by five hundred cubits, # 45:2 About 875 feet, or 265 meters. with fifty cubits # 45:2 About 88 feet, or 27 meters. for an open space around it. 3Of this measure you shall measure the length of twenty-five thousand cubits and the width of ten thousand cubits. # 45:3 About 31/3 miles, or 5.3 kilometers. And in it shall be the sanctuary, # Eze 48:10 the Most Holy Place. 4The holy portion of the land shall be for the priests, the ministers of the sanctuary, who shall come near to minister to the Lord. # Eze 40:46 And it shall be a place for their houses and a holy place for the sanctuary. 5An area twenty-five thousand cubits in length and ten thousand in width shall be for the Levites, # Eze 48:13 the ministers of the temple, and for their possession cities in which to dwell.
6You shall appoint the possession of the city five thousand cubits # 45:6 About 12/3 miles, or 2.7 kilometers. wide and twenty-five thousand cubits long adjacent to the allotment of the holy portion. It shall be for the whole house of Israel. # Eze 48:15–18, 30–35
The Portion for the Prince
7A portion shall be for the prince # Eze 34:24 on the one side and on the other side of the holy allotment and property of the city, adjacent to the holy allotment and the property of the city, from the west side westward and from the east side eastward. And the length shall correspond to one of the tribal portions, from the west border to the east border. # Eze 48:21 8In the land shall be his possession in Israel. And My officials shall no more oppress My people. # Eze 46:18 And the rest of the land they shall give to the house of Israel according to their tribes.
Laws Governing the Prince
9Thus says the Lord God: Let it suffice you officials of Israel. Remove violence and destruction, # Eze 44:6 and execute justice and righteousness. Take away your exactions from My people, # Jer 22:3 says the Lord God. 10You shall have just balances and a just ephah # 45:10 An ephah was a dry measure of about 3/5 bushel, or 22 liters. and a just bath. # Am 8:4–6; Mic 6:10–11 # 45:10 A bath was a liquid measure of about 6 gallons, or 22 liters. 11The ephah and the bath shall be of one measure so that the bath may contain one-tenth of a homer, # 45:11 In dry measure, six bushels or 220 liters; in liquid measure, 60 gallons or 220 liters. and the ephah one-tenth of a homer. Their measure shall be after the homer. # Isa 5:10 12The shekel # 45:12 A shekel weighed about 2/5 ounce, or 12 grams. shall be twenty gerahs. # Ex 30:13; Lev 27:25; Nu 3:47 # 45:12 Weighs 1/20 of a shekel. Twenty shekels, twenty-five shekels, and fifteen shekels shall be your mina. # 45:12 Sixty shekels equals about 11/2 pounds, or 690 grams. The common mina was 50 shekels.
13This is the offering that you shall offer: one-sixth of an ephah # 45:13 Likely about 6 pounds, or 2.7 kilograms. of a homer of wheat, and you shall give one-sixth of an ephah # 45:13 Likely about 5 pounds, or 2.3 kilograms. of a homer of barley. 14Concerning the ordinance of oil that is the bath of oil, you shall offer one-tenth of a bath # 45:14 About 21/2 quarts, or 2.2 liters. out of the kor, # 45:14 Equals a homer in liquid measure, 60 gallons or 220 liters. which is a homer or ten baths, for ten baths are a homer. 15And one lamb shall be out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the watering places of Israel, as a grain offering and as a burnt offering and for peace offerings, to make reconciliation for them, # Lev 1:4; 6:30 says the Lord God. 16All the people of the land shall give this offering for the prince in Israel. # Ex 30:14–15; Isa 16:1 17It shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings and grain offerings and drink offerings in the feasts and in the New Moons and in the Sabbaths, # 2Ch 31:3; Isa 66:23 in all solemnities of the house of Israel. He shall prepare the sin offering and the grain offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
Observing the Feasts
18Thus says the Lord God: In the first month, # Ex 12:2 on the first day of the month, you shall take a young bull without blemish and cleanse the sanctuary. # Lev 16:16 19And the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple and on the four corners of the ledge of the altar and on the gateposts of the inner court. # Lev 16:18–20; Eze 43:20 20So you shall do the seventh day of the month for everyone who errs and for him who is naive. # Ps 19:12 So you shall make atonement for the temple. # Lev 16:20
21In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall have the Passover, a feast of seven days. Unleavened bread shall be eaten. # Lev 23:5–8 22On that day the prince shall prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bull as a sin offering. # Lev 4:14 23For seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to the Lord, seven bulls and seven rams without blemish daily for the seven days, # Lev 23:8; Job 42:8 and a male of the goats daily as a sin offering. 24He shall prepare a grain offering of an ephah for a bull and an ephah for a ram and a hin # 45:24 About 1 gallon, or 3.8 liters. of oil for an ephah. # Nu 28:12–15; Eze 46:5–7
25In the seventh month, on the fifteenth day of the month, he shall do the like in the feast of the seven days, according to the sin offering, according to the burnt offering, and according to the grain offering, and according to the oil. # Lev 23:33–43; Nu 29:12–38
