The Valley of Dry Bones
1#Eze 1:3; 8:3The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He carried me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, 2and He caused me to pass among them all around. And there were very many in the open valley. And they were very dry. 3#1Sa 2:6; Dt 32:39He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
And I answered, “O Lord God, You know.”
4#Jer 22:29; Eze 36:1Again He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5#Ge 2:7; Ps 104:29–30Thus says the Lord God to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you so that you live. 6#Eze 38:23; Joel 2:27And I will lay sinews upon you and will grow back flesh upon you and cover you with skin and put breath in you so that you live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”
7#Jer 13:5–7So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a noise and a shaking. And the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8When I looked, the sinews and the flesh grew upon them, and the skin covered them. But there was no breath in them.
9Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the wind; prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind: Thus says the Lord God: Come from thefour winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain so that they live.” 10#Rev 11:11So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11#Ps 141:7; Isa 49:14Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are cut off completely.’ 12#Isa 26:19; Hos 13:14Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Pay attention, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves and bring you into the land of Israel. 13Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up out of your graves. 14#Eze 36:27; Joel 2:28–29And I shall put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I the Lord have spoken and performed it, says the Lord.”
Israel and Judah Unite
15The word of the Lord came again to me, saying: 16#2Ch 15:9; Nu 17:2–3Moreover, son of man, take one stick and write on it: “For Judah and for the sons of Israel his companions.” Then take another stick and write on it, “For Joseph the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions.” 17#Isa 11:13; Jer 50:4Then join them to one another into one stick so that they become one in your hand.
18#Eze 12:9; 24:19When the sons of your people speak to you, saying, “Will you not show us what you mean by these things?” 19#Eze 37:16–17; Zec 10:6say to them, Thus says the Lord God: I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and will put them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick; and they shall be one in My hand. 20#Eze 12:3The sticks on which you write shall be in your hand before their eyes. 21#Eze 36:24; Jer 29:14Say to them, Thus says the Lord God: I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone and will gather them on every side and bring them into their own land. 22#Jer 3:18; 50:4And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel. And one king shall be king over them all. And they shall be two nations no more, nor shall they be divided into two kingdoms anymore. 23#Eze 36:28–29Nor shall they defile themselves anymore with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions. But I will save them out of all their dwelling places in which they have sinned and will cleanse them. So they shall be My people, and I will be their God.
24#Isa 40:11; Hos 3:5David My servant shall be king over them. And they all shall have one shepherd. They shall also walk in My judgments, and observe My statutes and do them. 25#Eze 28:25; Am 9:15They shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers lived. And they shall dwell in it, they and their sons and their son’s sons forever. And My servant David shall be their prince forever. 26#Isa 55:3; Jer 30:19Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them. It shall be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them and multiply them and will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. 27#Eze 37:23; Jn 1:14My tabernacle also shall be with them. Indeed, I will be their God and they shall be My people. 28#Eze 20:12; Ex 31:13The nations shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.
