“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way. “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

I would like to share a thought with you that is fundamental to our lives. It’s from Psalm 1: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.” This verse teaches us about the Christian life, about what it shouldn’t be. But what should it be?
“I heard a friend of mine say in his prayer, ‘Lord, if we don’t have a used-to-be story, then we don’t have a changed life.’” I quoted these words in a devotional several years ago and was reminded of them today. Let me share my own used-to-be story and maybe you will connect your own life with it.
How do you choose to live? Where do you hide for safety and trust? I pray these guided biblical meditations will help you decide to live a life surrendered to the protection of God. Choosing to live an abundant life. Choosing to live a life shying away from pride and seeking humility, wanting to share in the sufferings of Christ. Choosing to live for the glory of God!
Praying through scripture is a great way to refresh your prayer life. This 3-day plan centres on God's heart for a hurting world and offers practical ways to pray through His word.
