Psalms 84

Psalms 84

The Blessedness of Dwelling in the House of God
To the Chief Musician. #Ps. 8:titleOn an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
1How #Ps. 27:4; 46:4, 5lovely is Your tabernacle,
O Lord of hosts!
2#Ps. 42:1, 2My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
3Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.
4Blessed are those who dwell in Your #(Ps. 65:4)house;
They will still be praising You.
5Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6As they pass through the Valley #2 Sam. 5:22–25of Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
7They go #Prov. 4:18; Is. 40:31; John 1:16; 2 Cor. 3:18from strength to strength;
Each one #Ex. 34:23; Deut. 16:16appears before God in Zion.
8O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Give ear, O God of Jacob!
9#Gen. 15:1O God, behold our shield,
And look upon the face of Your anointed.
10For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11For the Lord God is #Is. 60:19, 20; Mal. 4:2; Rev. 21:23a sun and #Gen. 15:1shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
#Ps. 34:9, 10No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
12O Lord of hosts,
#(Ps. 2:12; 40:4)Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
