II Timothy 3

Perilous Times and Perilous Men
1But know this, that #1 Tim. 4:1; 2 Pet. 3:3; 1 John 2:18; Jude 17, 18in the last days perilous times will come: 2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4#2 Pet. 2:10traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5#Titus 1:16having a form of godliness but #1 Tim. 5:8denying its power. And #Matt. 23:3; 2 Thess. 3:6; 1 Tim. 6:5from such people turn away! 6For #Matt. 23:14; Titus 1:11of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7always learning and never able #1 Tim. 2:4to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8#Ex. 7:11, 12, 22; 8:7; 9:11Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: #1 Tim. 6:5men of corrupt minds, #Rom. 1:28disapproved concerning the faith; 9but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, #Ex. 7:11, 12; 8:18; 9:11as theirs also was.
The Man of God and the Word of God
10#Phil. 2:20, 22; 1 Tim. 4:6But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me #Acts 13:44–52at Antioch, #Acts 14:1–6, 19at Iconium, #Acts 14:8–20at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And #Ps. 34:19out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12Yes, and #(Ps. 34:19)all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13#2 Thess. 2:11But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14But you must #2 Tim. 1:13; Titus 1:9continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15and that from childhood you have known #Ps. 119:97–104; John 5:39the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16#(2 Pet. 1:20)All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, #Rom. 4:23; 15:4and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17#1 Tim. 6:11that the man of God may be complete, #2 Tim. 2:21; Heb. 13:21thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Last Days
1Remember this! There will be many troubles in the last days. 2In those times people will love only themselves and money. They will brag and be proud. They will say evil things against others. They will not obey their parents. People will not be thankful or be the kind of people God wants. 3They will not have love for others. They will refuse to forgive others and will speak bad things. They will not control themselves. They will be cruel and will hate what is good. 4In the last days, people will turn against their friends. They will do foolish things without thinking. They will be conceited and proud. They will love pleasure. They will not love God. 5They will continue to act as if they serve God, but they will not really serve God. Stay away from those people. 6Some of them go into homes and get control of weak women who are full of sin. They are led to sin by the many evil desires they have. 7Those women always try to learn new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth fully. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres were against Moses, these people are against the truth. They are people whose thinking has been confused. They have failed in trying to follow the faith. 9But they will not be successful in what they do. Everyone will see that they are foolish. That is what happened to Jannes and Jambres.
Obey the Teachings
10But you know all about me. You know what I teach and the way I live. You know my goal in life. You know my faith, my patience, and my love. You know that I never stop trying. 11You know how I have been hurt and have suffered. You know all that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. You know the hurts I suffered in those places. But the Lord saved me from all those troubles. 12Everyone who wants to live the way God wants, in Christ Jesus, will be persecuted. 13People who are evil and cheat other people will go from bad to worse. They will fool others, but they will also be fooling themselves.
14But you should continue following the teachings that you learned. You know that these teachings are true. And you know you can trust those who taught you. 15You have known the Holy Scriptures since you were a child. The Scriptures are able to make you wise. And that wisdom leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching how to live right. 17Using the Scriptures, the person who serves God will be ready and will have everything he needs to do every good work.
