Psalms 62

Trust Only in God
For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David.
1I find rest in God;
only he can save me.
2He is my rock and my salvation.
He is my defender;
I will not be defeated.
3How long will you attack someone?
Will all of you kill that person?
Who is like a leaning wall, like a fence ready to fall?
4They are planning to make that person fall.
They enjoy telling lies.
With their mouths they bless,
but in their hearts they curse.Selah
5I find rest in God;
only he gives me hope.
6He is my rock and my salvation.
He is my defender;
I will not be defeated.
7My honor and salvation come from God.
He is my mighty rock and my protection.
8People, trust God all the time.
Tell him all your problems,
because God is our protection.Selah
9The least of people are only a breath,
and even the greatest are just a lie.
On the scales, they weigh nothing;
together they are only a breath.
10Do not trust in force.
Stealing is of no use.
Even if you gain more riches,
don’t put your trust in them.
11God has said this,
and I have heard it over and over:
God is strong.
12The Lord is loving.
You reward people for what they have done.

Confidence in God's Protection#Ps 62 Hebrew title: A psalm by David.
1I wait patiently for God to save me;
I depend on him alone.
2He alone protects and saves me;
he is my defender,
and I shall never be defeated.
3How much longer will all of you attack someone
who is no stronger than a broken-down fence?
4You only want to bring him down from his place of honour;
you take pleasure in lies.
You speak words of blessing,
but in your heart you curse him.
5I depend on God alone;
I put my hope in him.
6He alone protects and saves me;
he is my defender,
and I shall never be defeated.
7My salvation and honour depend on God;
he is my strong protector;
he is my shelter.
8Trust in God at all times, my people.
Tell him all your troubles,
for he is our refuge.
9Human beings are all like a puff of breath;
great and small alike are worthless.
Put them on the scales, and they weigh nothing;
they are lighter than a mere breath.
10Don't put your trust in violence;
don't hope to gain anything by robbery;
even if your riches increase,
don't depend on them.
11More than once I have heard God say
that power belongs to him
