Hosea speaks into a time of political unrest and misplaced worship. Israel enjoyed wealth and influence, yet turned from the Lord to Baal, a false god promising prosperity and fertility. God called Hosea to marry Gomer so His people could see His heart: a faithful God pursuing an unfaithful people.
