Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Written near the end of Paul’s life, 2 Timothy is an earnest entreaty for Timothy to remain faithful to his calling. Paul encourages Timothy to be bold in teaching sound doctrine, to present himself as a worker approved by God, and to have endurance in following Christ. Like Paul, we too are called “fight the good fight…finish the race…and keep the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7) in our own lives.
