And when Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Child, your sins are forgiven.”

And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, * and not man for the Sabbath.

And when they could not bring him near to Him on account of the crowd, they removed the roof where He* was. And after digging an opening, they lowered the mat on which the paralytic was lying.

But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” —He said to the paralytic— “I say to you, arise, take up your mat, and go to your house.”

Which is easier to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say ‘Arise, and take up your mat and walk’?

And he arose and at once took up his mat and went out in full view of everyone, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
