Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not triumph over it.

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, * and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for the sake of Me will find it.

For what will it benefit a man * if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what will a man offer as an exchange for his soul?

He* said to them, “But you, who do you say I am?” And in response, Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus then responded and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. *
