But the things which proceed from the mouth come from the heart, and these defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, untrue testimonies, slanders.

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles the man, * but what comes out of the mouth—this defiles the man.”

‘This people * honours Me with their lips, * but their hearts are distant, kept away from Me; and they worship Me to no purpose, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’ ” *

Then, in response, Jesus said to her, “O woman, great is your faith. Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

But she came and knelt in reverence before Him, saying, “Lord, help me.” And in response, He said, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, for even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
