Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent—a time for reflection, repentance, and renewal when Christians are invited to prepare themselves for the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection. Throughout the forty weekdays and six Sundays in Lent, pray and reflect on God’s renewing power.

Repentance has a social connotation of hard work, of pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, and proving yourself worthy to be called Christian. But what if I told you that repentance is a call to rest?

Pleasing God in all we do has to do with being created in His image. Bearing fruit has to do with being created to His likeness and is a result of His life. I please God because I am made in His image; I do His works, not mine. We are often inconsistent in our behavior because we do not know our identity. God wants to restore our identity.

We are looking into the lives of some Bible characters who had to do a 180 to come back to God. We've all been there, and I want to tell you not to worry; we are in good company. I've picked seven stories to help us understand that no matter where you are in your faith, it's not too late to turn (180 Degrees) to God.

The answer to your prayers does not solely depend on God; it also depends on you and your community. In life's challenging seasons, we all need people, and a community to lean on. Your God-given dream may not become a reality without the influence of others. God never intended for you and I to do life alone, we are created for community.
