Called To Do His Will
In Matthew, Jesus teaches His disciples that many call themselves His followers, but few do His will: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
A life that stops short of doing the will of God proves empty and meaningless, even to the point where this passage has God sending people away and calling them evildoers for wasting his time.
So what does it mean to do His will?
There is an element of following Him that requires our continual pursuit to worship and glorify Him. This is done in many ways, but He desires for us to be His hands and feet and to reach out to those in need. He calls us to enter in to the lives of the widows, orphans, and the oppressed so that not only would their needs be met, but that they may also be affirmed and come to share in the hope and knowledge of Him.
How is He calling you today?
Prayer: Father, help us to remember those who are hurting and forgotten today. Thank you for the privilege you have given us to be your hands and feet in a broken world.
