What The World Needs NowVoorbeeld

We want to belong, but we also want to be free to stand apart—because we worry that unity means uniformity and that the price of fitting in is death to difference. The body of Christ offers belonging that reconciles unity and difference. Within the body, there is a special place and vocation for every part—the eye is neither the hand nor the foot—but all are united under Jesus' headship. Accordingly, the people of God are each distinct and unique, but also find their commonality in light of Jesus. Difference, then, is preserved and honoured and unity is upheld since the individual parts only make sense in light of the whole.
Do you ever find that the interests of the one and the many are pitted against each other? Does this passage help you?
Our loving Father, thank You that You have given us each other and that our differences do not impede our union in You. Help us to work together for Your glory. Amen.

Aangaande hierdie leesplan

What the world needs now is love, sweet love, the song goes. Absolutely—and yet the world needs more than love. In the West we're more anxious than ever, feeling the weight of too much choice and measuring our worth by our achievements. It's a good thing then that Jesus brings many, many blessings to a needy world.
