What The World Needs NowVoorbeeld

Modern communications technologies make it easier than ever to connect with anyone, anytime, anywhere. But a surprising casualty of such constant interaction may be intimacy, since virtual relationships enable us to hold each other at a digital arm's distance. In the face of this desire to dictate how we relate to others, these ten words convict us: 'the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.'
The incarnation shows that, when God connected with us, He didn't hold anything back. In becoming flesh, Jesus entered fully into our humanity, becoming vulnerable to rejection, loneliness, and pain. And in 'dwelling among us': God signaled His intentions: He wants to move in with humanity: to enjoy a rich, close relationship for always. In an online world, that allows us a measure of control over our relationships, the incarnation reminds us that Jesus puts His own flesh on the line.
How can Jesus’ example influence your relationships—both in real life and life online?
Our loving Father, we ask that we be people who seek to love one another deeply and sacrificially–for this is how You love us. May our knowledge and experience of Your love transform the way we relate to others both in real life and online. Make us Your hands and feet so that we can serve the world and its hurting people and show them the nature of Your love for us. Amen.

Aangaande hierdie leesplan

What the world needs now is love, sweet love, the song goes. Absolutely—and yet the world needs more than love. In the West we're more anxious than ever, feeling the weight of too much choice and measuring our worth by our achievements. It's a good thing then that Jesus brings many, many blessings to a needy world.
