Maar Jesus sê vir hulle: Hulle hoef nie weg te gaan nie; gee vir hulle om te eet. En hulle sê vir hom: Ons het hier net vyf brode en twee visse. Hy sê: Bring hulle hier na my toe. En Hy het die skare bevel gegee om op die gras te gaan sit, en Hy het die vyf brode en die twee visse geneem en na die hemel opgekyk, geseën en gebreek en die brode aan sy dissipels gegee en die dissipels aan die skare. En hulle het almal geëet en versadig geword, en van die brokstukke wat oorgebly het, het hulle twaalf mandjies vol opgetel. En die wat geëet het, was omtrent vyf duisend man, buiten vroue en kinders.
