1 Samuel 18-20

From Spoken Gospel

RELATED SCRIPTURE

This Bible study devotional covers 1 Samuel 18-20. In this passage, God’s Spirit has left Saul and filled David instead, and everybody in Israel and Saul’s family sees this clearly. But Saul refuses to humble himself before God’s new chosen king and instead conspires to kill him. As always, we are committed to showing you how to see the good news of the Gospel in every passage of Scripture. In 1 Samuel 18-20, Saul’s opposition to David is a lot like the Pharisees' conspiracy against Jesus. Everyone in Israel seems to see Jesus as God’s chosen King—except those too blinded by their pride and thirst for power. But while David escapes Saul’s conspiracies, Jesus doesn’t. Jesus proves he’s not only more powerful than conspiracies, but death.
