Jesus commands Lazarus back to life and all are amazed. When the Pharisees hear about this great miracle, they fear that Jesus is gaining too many followers and plot to kill Him. Jesus avoids being arrested by them and returns to the home of Lazarus where He is honored with a meal and Mary washes His feet with perfume. Judas complains that the perfume should have been sold and the money given to the poor. Concern for the poor wasn’t in his heart, as Judas was a thief and hoped to steal some of the money. Affirming Mary’s lavish choice to bless Him with the perfume, Jesus declares that the poor would always be with them but that He would not.
