An Tiomna Nua 1970 (Ó Cuinn) (OC1970)

Gaeilge [Irish Gaelic]

Read Version: An Tiomna Nua 1970 (Ó Cuinn)

Cosslett Ó Cuinn

Bhí Cosslett Ó Cuinn (1907-1995), mar mhinistéir in Eaglais na hÉireann, agus tar éis dó post mar Ollamh le Gréigis an Bhíobla a ghlacadh i 1961 ag Coláiste na Tríonóide, Áth Cliath.

An tSaltair 1965

D'aistrigh sé an tSaltair do Leabhar na hUrnaí Coitinne i 1965. Leanann an t-aistriúchán seo leagan an Bhíobla Mhóir Bhéarla 1539.

An Tiomna Nua 1970

Tá a aistriúchán ar an Tiomna Nua bunaithe ar Revised Standard Version an Bhéarla agus ar an bhunGhréigis. Tá blas Ultach le haithint ar an dá théacs. Ba é Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise (Irish Guild of the Church) a d’fhoilsigh i 1970, le cabhair ón Hibernian Bible Society (a nglaotar an National Bible Society of Ireland anois air).

The Psalter 1965

In 1961, he translated the Psalter for Leabhar na hUrnaí Coitinne (The Book of Common Prayer) of the Church of Ireland in 1965. This translation follows the version of the Great Bible of 1539.

New Testament 1970

His translation of the New Testament is based on the Revised Standard Version (RSV) in English, and the original Greek. Both texts have a distinct Ulster dialect. It was Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise (Irish Guild of the Church) who published it in 1970, with the assistance of the Hibernian Bible Society (now called the National Bible Society of Ireland).
