By the love of Jesus, we are known as His followers. We love because He first loved us. Some believe that if we can just love and embrace ourselves then we can more effectively love others. While positive self-image, self-talk, and love for self are important, it is only the love of God and the truth of the word of God that is transformative and from which true love flows. Ultimately our ability to love does not stem from a love for ourselves but love himself. Being loved by God is the starting point for everything. We can love because we were first loved.
