Relational health is a key part of the goal of wholeness in our lives. Research clearly indicates a connection between our relational and mental health. Google “relational health” sometime. There is page after page of counseling center offerings, employee manuals, books and studies focusing on this connection.
One of the leading causes of stress in our lives is unresolved marital conflict. Talk to any mom who is experiencing difficulty in relating to their adolescent child. It can lead to emotional stress that for some, if not most, leads to experiencing physical issues. Young men and women who go through traumatic break-up with long time boyfriends or girlfriends may battle depression and anxiety. And the source for all of these is unhealthy relationships.
Read John 15 for the solution to healthy relationships. What do verses 1 and 2 tell us about our relationships? How are we called to love one another based on John 15:12?
