The Gift of Ministry

Numbers 18:7
“But only you and your sons may serve as priests in connection with everything at the altar and inside the curtain. I am giving you the service of the priesthood as a gift...”

We sometimes become discouraged in ministry with the demands on our time or the challenges of working with difficult people. God gave the priesthood to Aaron as a gift and he still gifts his servants with ministry responsibility and opportunities today. When we receive ministry as a gift, we serve with gratitude, humility and joy. When we see ministry as a duty, we become impatient, demanding and self-serving. Through Christ we have access behind the curtain to the most Holy Place. This right standing before God as a royal priesthood - a holy nation, is also a gift of God’s grace. Service to God in worship is a gift. We have been given much and we are responsible for much.

Lord Jesus, thank you for salvation. Thank you for the gift of ministry. Thank you for the gift of your presence and for your unfailing love. Thank you!
