ENOUGH: LETTING GO
"Very truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." (John 12:24)
We’ve all lost something. Family members, friends, relationships, jobs. Many of us at some point or another may have lost our faith.
A faith that ignores loss is no faith at all. That’s one of the reasons why Christianity, and the Easter story in particular, is so compelling and necessary.
The great spiritual truth at the heart of our faith is that loss is not the end. Loss is painful and real, but it is also the beginning of transformation.
Those of us of a certain age will know that the times of greatest growth in our lives were also, paradoxically, connected to times of loss and hardship. Resurrection is an eternal truth: we can all be brought back from the dead, so to speak, throughout our lives.
When we let go, we may find that, like a seed falling to the ground, something new begins to grow.
Father God, thank You that every end can also be a beginning. Help me to let go. I place the losses in my life before You, and ask that You transform them into something new. Amen.

In God’s eyes, we are more than enough. It’s why He sent His son to reconcile us to Him. Though we may never grasp just how much He loves us, at Lent we can take time to reflect on all He did for us. It's time to reject the message that we aren’t enough, and instead remember Christ died for us, just as we are.
