Redeemed
Whole book reading: Leviticus 24-27
The Book of Leviticus ends with the message of redemption. How very apt after yesterday’s devotion. There are two dictionary meanings of redemption. The first is the action of saving or being saved from sin. The second meaning being the action of regaining or gaining possession in exchange for payment or clearing a debt. Leviticus practically spoke about both kinds of redemption. For the former, they included sacrifices for our sin. For the latter, it was in the laws relating to objects which were set apart for God and how they could be redeemed.
Leviticus explains the need for a savior and how God instituted ways for the Israelites. Today redemption is freely available for us. God has redeemed us with the death of Christ on the cross. It is our duty to accept the redemption and strive to live a life apart from sin. Another central theme of Leviticus is to help us keep ourselves holy and set apart for God’s use.
Life is about being redeemed and staying that way.
