Pumasok at dumaan si Hesus sa Jerico. Samantala, may isang lalaki roon na ang pangalan ay Zaqueo. Siya ay mayaman at isa sa mga pinuno ng mga maniningil ng buwis. Gusto sana niyang makita at makilala si Hesus, ngunit dahil siyaʼy pandak at maraming tao roon ay hindi niya ito magawa. Kaya tumakbo siya upang maunahan ang mga tao, at umakyat sa puno ng sikamoro upang makita si Hesus na dadaan doon. Pagdaan ni Hesus sa may puno, tumingala siya at sinabi, “Zaqueo, bumaba ka agad diyan, kailangan kong tumuloy sa bahay mo ngayon!” Kaya nagmadaling bumaba si Zaqueo at masayang dinala si Hesus sa kanyang bahay.
