HIS PERSON:  I want to believe in Jesus Prophet. Messiah. Healer. Son of God. The Door. Life. Light. The Way. The Truth. The Good Shepherd. The Savior. You and I based on our experience with Jesus, we need to confess: More than just seeking His presence, I choose to believe in the PERSON of Christ. When we believe in everything Jesus claims to be, we discover a deeper realm of following Christ. Yes, I want to experience His presence. But His presence draws me to know the person of Christ. That's why Nathaniel experiences the presence of Christ (1:48) and immediately believes Jesus as the Son of God. When we believe in Jesus, we have a passionate desire to know Christ and have a growing understanding of His claims on our lives. Like Jesus stated, we need to know Him personally and adequately (10:14). The more we read His word, we are able to discover more about the Person of Christ and become like Him. All of us have friendships at different spheres of our lives. The friends to whom we are most deeply committed to, is a result of a deep knowledge of our friends and what they stand for. All of us depend on professional experts like doctors or technical engineers to help us in specific areas of our health or home. We commit our health or the specific needs of our home only those doctors or engineers we personally know or trust their judgement. Believing in Jesus and knowing the person of Christ leads us to commit ourselves totally to Him. Everything He is, makes me commit everything to Him. As you start the study of the gospel of John, ask yourself: what are the wonderful NAMES of Jesus that reveal who Jesus is ? The person of Jesus that points you to believe in Him and trust in Him. Believing in who Jesus is, draws you to commit yourself to His claims. Do you believe in who Jesus says He is and what He claims to be today?
