CHAPTER FIFTEEN
1“I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman.
2He takes away every branch in Me that does not bear fruit; but He cleanses each one that bears fruit, in order that it may bear more fruit. #Mat. 15:13
3You are already clean through the word that I have spoken to you. #John. 13:10; 1 Pet. 1:22; Eph. 5:26
4Dwell in Me, and I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit of itself, but only if it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you are dwelling in Me. #1 John 2:6; Col. 1:23
5I am the vine, and you are the branches. The one who is dwelling in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; because apart from Me you can do nothing. #Hos. 14:8; Acts 4:12; Phil. 1:11, 4:13
6If anyone does not dwell in Me, he is cast out as a branch, and is dried up; and men gather them and cast them into a fire, and they are burned. #Mat. 3:10, 7:19
7If you dwell in Me, and My words dwell in you, you shall ask whatever you desire, and it shall come to pass for you. #John 16:23
8In this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be My disciples. #Mat. 5:16; John 8:31; Phil. 1:11
9As the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; live in My love.
10If you keep My commandments, you shall live in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and live in His love. #John 14:15, 16:24, 17:13; 1 John 1:4
11These things I have spoken to you, in order that My joy may dwell in you, and that your joy may be full.
12This is My commandment: that you love one another, as I have loved you. #John 13:34; 1 Pet. 4:8; 1 John 3:11; 1 Thes. 4:9
13No one has greater love than this: that one lay down his life for his friends. #John 10:11; 1 John 3:16; Rom. 5:7, 8; Eph. 5:2
14You are My friends, if you do whatever I command you. #Mat. 12:50; John 14:15
15No longer do I call you servants, because the servant does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends because I have made known to you all the things that I have heard from My Father. #Gen. 18:17; John 17:26
16You yourselves did not choose Me, but I have personally chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go forth and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; so that whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He may give you. #Mat. 28:19 Mark 16:15; John 6:70, 13:18, 15:7; 1 John 4:10; Col. 1:6
17These things I command you, that you love one another.
18If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. #1 John 3:13
19If you were of the world, the world would love its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have personally chosen you out of the world, the world hates you for this. #John 17:14; 1 John 4:5
20Remember the word that I spoke to you: a servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you also. If they kept My word, they will keep your word also. #Ezek. 3:7; Mat. 10:24; Luke 6:40
21But they will do all these things to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him Who sent Me. #Mat. 10:22, 24:9
22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have nothing to cover their sin. #John 9:41; Jas. 4:17; Rom. 1:20
23The one who hates Me hates My Father also. #1 John 2:23
24If I had not done among them the works that no other man has done, they would not have had sin; but now they have both seen and hated both Me and My Father. #John 3:2
25But this has happened so that the saying might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’ #Psa. 35:19, 69:4
26But when the Comforter has come, which I will send to you from the Father,even the Spirit of the truth, which proceeds from the Father, that one shall bear witness of Me. #Luke 24:49; John 14:17; 1 John 5:6
27Then you also shall bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.” #Luke 1:2, 24:48; Acts 1:21, 2:32, 3:15, 4:20, 33, 5:32, 10:39, 13:31; 1 Pet. 5:1; 2 Pet. 1:16; 1 John 1:1
