Meander 

At times of trouble, the joy received through the pleasures of the world pulls us down, depriving us of all our hopes. Loving the world means to give first priority to the treasures, things and people of this world. It is a mere fact that all of them will fade away. They will ruin your peace and destroy life. But when God comes to dwell in our hearts and in our home, He says, “I will give you rest. I will give you the peace that the world will not give.” 

A certain couple liked to spend all nights indulging in the pleasures of the world, at night clubs. They used to return home in the late hours at around 2 a.m., sleep soundly till 9 a.m. and then rush to office. Their minds indulged in the same pleasure during office hours also. They used to wait eagerly for the night to arrive and would gaze at their watches. All of a sudden, on a particular day, to their great shock, they had to face a major problem. They were filled with dismay and fear. Unable to overcome that problem, they were shattered and succumbed to it. 

My friend, is there anything that disturbs your peace today. Whatever be the temptations, give your heart to Jesus. He is very near you to give His peace – the kind of peace that no person on earth can give. Receive His peace this day. 

Prayer

“Lord God, today I choose to leave the pleasures of this world. I submit myself to spend time with You and not with the world. Fill me with Your grace to overcome these temptations of the world. Let me rejoice in You. Give me peace that the world cannot give. This I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
