Saunt Matthew 19

An’ it cam’ to pass that whan Jesus had made an en’ o’ thae sayin’s, he gaed awa frae Galilee, an’ cam’ intil the marches o’ Judea ayont Jordan;
An’ mony folk followet him; an’ he healet them there.
The Pharisees alsua cam’ until him, temp’ing him, an’ sayin’ until him, Is it lawfu’ for a man to pit awa his wife for ilka cause?
An’ he answer’t an’ said until them, Haena ye read, that he wha made them at the beginnin’ made them male an’ female,
An’ said, For this cause sall a man leave father an’ mither, an’ sall cleave til his wife, an’ they twa sall be ae flesh?
Wharefore they are nae mair twa, but ae flesh. What therefore God hath joinet thegither, let nae man pit asinder.
They say until him, Why did Moses than commaun’ us to gie a writin’ o’ divorcement, an’ to pit her awa?
He saith until them, Moses, because o’ the hardness o’ your hairts, let you pit awa your wives; but frae the beginnin’ it wasna sae.
An’ I say until you, Whasaever sall pit awa his wife, excep’ it be for furnication, an’ sall marry anither, committeth adult’ry, an’ whasae marrieth her wha is putten awa committeth adult’ry.
His disciples say until him, Gif the case o’ the man be sae wi’ his wife, it isna guid to marry.
But he said until them, A’ men canna receive this sayin’, saufan’ they til wham it is gien.
For there are some eunuchs, wha were sae born frae their mithers’ womb; an’ there are some eunuchs, wha were made eunuchs o’ men; an’ there are eunuchs, wha hae made themsels eunuchs for the kingdom o’ heaven’s sak’. He wha is able to receive it, let him receive it.
Syne were broucht until him wee bairns, that he sud pit his han’s on them, an’ pray; an’ the disciples rebuket them.
But Jesus said, Let the wee bairns come until me, an’ dinna forbid them; for o’ sic is the kingdom o’ heaven.
An’ he laid his han’s on them, an’ gaed awa frae that place.
An’, behald, ane cam’ an’ said until him, Guid Maister, what guid thing sall I do, that I may hae eternal life?
An’ he said until him, How ca’est thou me guid? There is nane guid but ane, that is God: but gif thou wilt gae intil life, keep the commaun’ments.
He saith until him, Whilk? Jesus said, Thou sallt do nae murder, Thou salltna commit adult’ry, Thou salltna steal, Thou salltna bear fause witness,
Honour thy father an’ thy mither; an’, Thou sallt loe thy neibor as thyself.
The young man saith until him, A’ thae things hae I keepet frae my youdith up: what lack I yet?
Jesus said until him, Gif thou wilt be perfite, gae an’ sell a’ that thou hast, an’ gie til the puir, an’ thou sallt hae rowth o’ guids in heaven; an’ come an’ follow me.
But whan the young man hear’t that sayin’, he gaed awa sair coost doun; for he had meikle gear.
Syne said Jesus until his disciples, Verily I say unto you, that a bien man sall hardly gae intil the kingdom o’ heaven.
An’ again I say until you, It is easier for a camel to gae through the ee o’ a needle, nor for a bien man to gae intil the kingdom o’ God.
Whan his disciples hear’t it, they were meikle amazet, sayin’, Wha than can be saufet?
But Jesus leuket on them, an’ said until them, Wi’ men this is no possible; but wi’ God a’ things are possible.
Syne answer’t Peter, an’ said until him, Behald, we hae forleet a’ an’ followet thee: what sall we hae therefore?
An’ Jesus said until them, Verily I say unto you, That ye wha hae followet me, in the regeneration whan the Son o’ man sall sit on the throne o’ his glory, ye alsua sall sit upon twal thrones, judgin’ the twal tribes o’ Israel.
An’ ilka ane wha hath forleet houses, or brithren, or sisters, or father, or mither, or wife, or bairns, or lan’s, for my name’s sak’, sall hae an hunderd‐fauld, an’ sall inherit everlastin’ life.
But mony wha are first sall be last; an’ the last sall be first.
