17
1An’ after sax days Jesus taketh Peter, James, an’ John his brither, an’ bringeth them up intil a high mountain alane.
2An’ he was transfiguret afore them; an’ his face did shine as the sun, an’ his claes were white as the licht:
3An’, behald, there kythet until them Moses an’ Elias talkin’ wi’ him.
4Syne quo’ Peter until Jesus, Lord, it is guid for us to be here; gif thou wilt, let us mak’ here three tabernacles; ane for thee, an’ ane for Moses, an’ ane for Elias.
5While he yet spak’, behald, a bricht clud owre?-?shadowet them: an’, behald, a voice out o’ the clud, whilk said, This is my belovet Son, in wham I am weel pleaset: hear ye him.
6An’ whan the disciples hear’t it, they fell on their face, an’ were sair fleyed.
7An’ Jesus cam’ an’ touchet them, an’ said, Rise up, an’ binna fleyed.
8An’ whan they had liftet up their een they saw nae man saufan’ Jesus alane.
9An’ as they cam’ doun frae the mountain, Jesus charget them, sayin’, Tell the vision to nae man, till the Son o’ man be risen frae the dead.
10An’ his disciples spier’t at him, sayin’, How than say the scribes that Elias maun first come?
11An’ Jesus answer’t an’ said until them, Elias truly sall first come, an’ mak’ guid a’ things.
12But I say until you, that Elias is come a’ready, an’ they didna ken him, but hae dune until him whatsaever they listet. Likewaise sall alsua the Son o’ man thole o’ them.
13Syne his disciples kent that he spak’ until them o’ John the Baptist.
14An’ whan they were come til the thrang there cam’ til him a certain man, kneelin’ doun til him, an’ sayin’,
15Lord, hae pity on my son; for he is lunatic, an’ sair afflickit; for afttimes he fa’eth intil the fire, an’ aft intil the water.
16An’ I broucht him til thy disciples, an’ they cudna cure him.
17Syne Jesus answer’t an’ said, O faithless an’ thrawart generation, how lang sall I be wi’ you? how lang sall I thole you? Bring him here til me.
18An’ Jesus rebuket the deevil; an’ he gaed out o’ him: an’ the bairn was curet frae that vera hour.
19Syne cam’ the disciples til Jesus by themsels, an’ said, Why cudna we cast him out?
20An’ Jesus said until them, Because o’ your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, Gin ye hae faith as a grain o’ mustart‐seed, ye sall say until this mountain, Remove thance til yon place, an’ it sall remove; an’ naething sall be impossible until you.
21Howbeit this kind dothna gae out but by prayer an’ fastin’.
22An’ while they dwalt in Galilee, Jesus said until them, The Son o’ man sall be betrayet intil the han’s o’ men:
23An’ they sall kill him, an’ the third day he sall be raiset again. An’ they were sair forfairn.
24An’ whan they were come til Capernaum, they that teuk stent cam’ til Peter, an’ said, Dothna your maister pay stent?
25He saith, Ay. An’ whan he was come intil the house, Jesus, aforehan’ wi’ him, said, What thinkest thou, Simon? o’ wham do the kings o’ the yirth tak’ stent? o’ their ain childer or o’ strangers?
26Peter saith until him, O’ strangers. Jesus saith until him, Syne are the childer free.
27Natheless, lest we sud offen’ them, gang thou til the sea, an’ cast a heuk, an’ tak’ up the fish that first cometh up; an’ whan thou hast openet its mouth, thou sallt fin’ a bit o’ money: that tak’, an’ gie until them for me an’ thee.
