Perseverance: A Study in Jude

DITA 3 NGA 3

What does it say? Jude ends his letter by encouraging his readers to persevere despite their trials. What does it mean? Although Jude provides a scathing rebuke to the false teachers, his words towards those who are faithful are full of encouragement and comfort. He instructs them to "keep themselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life" (Jude 21). No matter how heated the backbiting and opposition may become, God's people are always to be marked by love and looking to Jesus. How do I respond? Are your eyes on Jesus today, hopefully anticipating His coming return? The posture of Jude and the New Testament is to keep one eye on the skies, rooting our hope and actions in Jesus' future return. Take some time to think through how you might think, act, respond, and pray differently by reminding yourself that your future is secure in Christ.
