Fundamental 3—Sharing the Gospel (Shoes—The Readiness To Proclaim the Gospel) (Eph 6:15) We do not need to be sharing the Gospel 24/7, but this is called being ready… in season and out of season. Are you ready to share as the Holy Spirit leads? "Shoes" implies GO! Are you willing to go where God calls you, even if it is uncomfortable? We have the Great Commission to spread the gospel and not hide the light we have. It is a fundamental act of the faith to share with others the hope that lies within us (1 Peter 3:15). This does not mean shouting from the street corner (unless God calls you to), but living in such a way that others want what you have. Live your life with love, give of your time, talent, and wealth, to serve those in need. Do not be ashamed of Christ when you are with others, regardless of what they believe. Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek” (Romans 1:16 NIV). Sharing the Gospel is about your availability, not your capability. You don’t need a doctorate from a seminary to be able to share; you just need your testimony. The love of Christ within you that shares truth with love is enough to look differently from the rest of the world. Too often Christians will share truth (aka social media), but there is no love in it. There is no relationship with that person to be able to have a seat at the table of their life and speak into it. Truth becomes hard if not softened by love. Here are some reasons why Christians don’t share their faith: * You don’t really believe. * You feel unequipped. * You fear rejection. * You assume everyone has heard. Just because someone has heard the name of Jesus before doesn’t mean they actually know the Biblical Jesus. Maybe He has been relegated to a curse word or they have been told He never really existed. Sharing the gospel should be a daily discipline, because it keeps your eyes focused off yourself and your problems, and onto others as we love and serve them. You may not share Jesus verbally with someone every day, but are you looking for opportunities? Are you asking the Holy Spirit to highlight people that need to hear a kind word or that you need to pray for? Stop looking for excuses and start looking for ways to share Jesus with someone today.
