Year of the Bible: Part Two of Twelve Shembull
The Gospel Finds its Beginning.
God Chooses Abram and makes a promise.
God tells Abram, "I will bless you, and through your family, all the nations of the earth will be blessed." This promise is the foundation of the gospel and why Jesus came through Abram's family line some many years later. You see, gospel means "good news." This news is undoubtedly good! God desires to bless you and bless others through you.
When we become a follower of Jesus, we turn away from our old way of living and embrace a new way of life. God calls us to be different and set apart, just like Abram. He will often separate us from our old way of living and ask us to change our old habits and learn a new way of living.
Question: How does God want you to be separate from your former ways?
Prayer Focus: Ask God for help to leave the places you need to leave so that you can go to the places He will show you.
Go Deeper: God had big plans for Abram and wanted Him to set an example of leaving the old way to embrace God's good plans. God may be prompting you to make significant changes too. Give Him space to speak to you and ask Him for the courage to act.
