Salty Lemonade: A Refreshing Twist On The Recipe For Overcoming Adversity

Upside down living...It’s what we are called to do as children of the King. Our lifestyles, our response to trouble and stress, are supposed to look and sound different than the world. What does that mean? Do we have to walk around with our holy halos on pretending like nothing is wrong? Absolutely not!

We have a tool at our disposal that non-believers don’t have. As a matter of fact, this tool is so effective it is described as a two-edged sword. I’m talking about the word of God. Now before you go and start memorizing a bunch of scriptures and spouting them all over the place, please take this into consideration. Jesus Christ was The Word. He walked the earth as The Word, lived as The Word, and operated in the earth realm as The Word. He was a living representation of the powerful, life-giving, God inspired word contained in this thing we call The Bible. If Christ is our example, we are to be the same thing on the earth today. The Word is inside of you as a tool and a weapon to allow you to overcome and fight the battles in your mind, your body, and your spirit.

Your Day Six challenge is to learn the reality of your Word-Identity. As you begin to see the value in having a solid foundation in the Bible, consciously use the word in your daily confessions instead of complaining. Don’t just let the Bible be another book on your shelf. Immerse yourself in it. Bask in the glow of the promises in the word. Give yourself time to meditate on it. The word will begin to bring life into your situation, your soul, and energize you in ways that nothing else can. Counseling is great when you need it. Friends can provide some measure of comfort during the rough times, but there is nothing like the living, breathing, Word of God to pierce through the darkness and bring peace into your situation.
