Looking Ahead

Hebrews 11:25, 26
“He (Moses) chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.”

Where we fix our eyes is determined by what we value in life. Moses looked ahead to his eternal home and valued that reward and relationship with God more than the temporary pleasures and security of Egypt. The cost of that forward-looking choice was short term pain, loss, mistreatment and disgrace. God has given us choices in life. We can choose to live for short term or long term rewards. What we value will determine what we live for. Jesus Christ is the pearl of great price. Finding Christ will cost us our whole life, but in losing everything we find Jesus and so much more. He is our very great reward!

Lord Jesus, thank you for finding me, for saving me and for giving me a new perspective on what is valuable in life. Keep my eyes focused on you and not on the short term pleasures of this life, for your glory.
