Day 1

WHATEVER GOD DOES - HE DOES IT BY HIS WORD!

(Gen 1:1-3)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen 1:1)

In the first verse of the Bible, we are confronted with the impossible. We are confronted with the belief that this God is able to create. This Elohim-God, the Creator-God, has the power and the authority to create out of nothing.

Abraham is called the father of our faith. Abraham’s faith in God was twofold. (Rom 4:17)

1 Abraham believed in the resurrection. He believed in the God who brings the dead back to life.

2 Abraham believed that He calls into being things that were not. He calls those things that do not exist as though they did.

The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. (Gen1:2)

Over that which was formless, empty, and dark, the Spirit of God was hovering and brooding to give life to this formless and empty darkness.

Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. (Gen 1:3)

The key that set creation in motion was His word – Let there be light! Light is the first step of creation. It is the first thing that happens when He gets involved. His word is penetrating light! It brings light in everything that is empty, dark, and formless.

When God commands, the result is that light shines out of darkness. Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that His glory is seen in Jesus Christ. (2 Cor 4:6 CEV)

Father, Let your word light up my heart and life!
