A Believer in the Music Industry... Is That Possible?

DAY 3 OF 5

We can’t ignore the fact that all famous musicians from the Bible made music for God. But did you know that God wasn’t always the purpose for making music? There are several moments in the Bible where music was made for entertainment purposes, like (royal) parties, or for support during funerals. Archeological research even tells us that musicians were paid and compensated for these events.

Being a musician was just as normal as any other - more famous - job in the Bible, like fisherman, shepherd or carpenter.

Personally, I love the idea that as christians at work we may show who God is, and that every person has their own territory (through work) given by God. The Bible tells us that believers need each other, like “one body”.

The Bible also tells us that everyone has their own gifts and talents, and that God gives to who He wants, but also that He decides about the way that particular gift should be used.

So, His way. It teaches me that God’s way is not always my way. It also teaches me that my talents don’t always have to be put into practice for God, but that sometimes God has His very own plans. It also teaches me that I don’t want to be judgmental about the plans God has for others.

I know that I get most fulfillment from using my gifts and talents for God, but we must never forget that there is no coercion in doing so, and that God sometimes wants to use someone’s talents differently than we might think. ⛅️
