There are many examples of famous artists who started their career at church: Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Withney Houston… etc. There are also artists who converted to christianity during their career: Justin Bieber, Alice Cooper, Bob Dylan… etc.

We can be very judgmental about these people as well. It looks like when someone gets to a bigger stage, the punishment for their mistakes gets bigger as well. But is that also how God works?

Imagine, you work at a random office in the city with some sweet colleagues. You make a big mistake, and the guilt and shame are too heavy for you to carry. Do you think artists carry more guilt and shame for a comparable mistake? Or do you think God's judgement is tougher for a famous artist?

The most important message from a Biblical example is that God is merciful, and that we have to be as merciful like God towards others. Because if we are not, we will not receive the mercy God has in store for us.

That sounds pretty rough, but in some way also hopeful. Because God forgives sin - having prejudices also being a sin - but we have to be merciful towards others as well.

What the story also teaches us is that it is God who is to judge, and not us. We are very good at judging people’s mistakes, but the judgement is not ours, but only God’s. 🧑‍⚖️

Shall we pray together? “Father in heaven, thank You for your endless mercy for my life. Teach me over and over to forgive those who treated me unrighteously. Teach me to be less judgemental about the people I don’t know that well. Give me Your patience, and switch my prejudices with Your love. Amen.”
