Dare to DreamSýnishorn

Having your head in the clouds
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:2-3 ESV)
In daily life, it is often helpful to be down to earth. Living with your head in the clouds is great when you're in love, but it doesn't put bread on the table. Dreaming away every now and then is nice, but most of the time you just have to get to work to finish your education, tackle a job or take care of your family, without being distracted by all kinds of fantasies.
In our life with God, things are different. He calls us, “Seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1 ESV) We should turn our attention to God's Kingdom, which is largely outside our perceived reality, even though we live on earth.
Of course it is also necessary to perform our daily tasks, but we may do so while “dreaming,” with our head in heaven. Although this distracts us to a certain extent from earthly matters, it is beneficial. Being too focused on the here and now only inhibits our spiritual growth.
How do you find a balance between sober, mundane life on earth and life in the spiritual / heavenly reality?
