Pastor How to Read LukeExemple

Please read the Gospel of Luke 1:34-38,
34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”
Contrast this with Zechariah’s response.
18 Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.”
Mary couldn’t understand the ‘practicality’ of how the promise would happen.
But Zechariah doubted the ‘possibility’ of how the promise could happen.
When God makes us a promise, it is ok to not understand how it can come to pass practically… how logically or scientifically or medically it can happen. That’s why it is a miracle.
But never doubt or question the eventual possibility.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38 Then Mary said, “...Let it be to me according to your word.”
Mary was saying, “I don’t understand the practicality of a virgin giving birth but I believe and accept the possibility of it."
Friends, if God made you a promise, you might not understand, but believe it can and will come to pass.
Another thought:
Zechariah was mute. Mary was not.
The difference is their response.
How we respond to God’s Word is how God empowers us.
Our ability and authority to speak depends on our faith.
People with faith should speak but those with doubt should keep silent.
Unfortunately, what is happening on social media is the opposite.
Faith-filled Christians should speak up more online and in real life.
