PRAY: Dear Father, don't let me speak any empty words. Guide my tongue and keep my heart pure so that I say what I mean and mean everything I say to others and to You. Don't let me give empty promises, empty flattery, or foolish advice. Let me build others up, praise You, and speak truth filled with grace. And I pray this in Jesus' name.

REFLECT: Have you ever thought that you will be judged some day, not only on what you do but on what you say? Reflect on any time that you were careless with your words. Have you disappointed someone with something you said that wasn't fully true, or was insensitive or unnecessary. How can you watch your words so that you don't waste them or use them unwisely? 

ACT:  Choose now to be a person of great character through the choice of your words. Right now, imagine that you are standing before the Lord, having to give an account for the words you've spoken. Is there anything you can recall that you need to acknowledge and ask forgiveness for saying? Go ahead and do that! Then know that you are forgiven and your heart is again as white as snow, and you are starting again, this moment, with a clean slate.
