The Fruit Of Holy Spirit

fruit: 2590 karpós – properly, fruit; (figuratively) everything done in true partnership with Christ, i.e. a believer (a branch) lives in union with Christ (the Vine). By definition, fruit (2590 /karpós) results from two life-streams – the Lord living His life through ours – to yield what is eternal (cf. 1 Jn 4:17).
I believe that the fruit of the spirit that most people say is the fruit of Holy Spirit in our lives is actually the fruit of the Spirit of Christ in our lives. But since they are all one no argument is a good one on either thought process.
I believe the fruit or evidence of Holy Spirit in our lives is the power of God at work in our lives producing love in and through us!
The promise of the Holy Spirit coming into our lives was the promise of power! So one could argue that this is the power to produce the fruit of Christ in us or that Holy Spirit empowers us to live the Christ life! A life of LOVE!
I believe the fruit or evidence of Holy Spirit in our lives is the power of God at work in our lives producing love in and through us!
The promise of the Holy Spirit coming into our lives was the promise of power! So one could argue that this is the power to produce the fruit of Christ in us or that Holy Spirit empowers us to live the Christ life! A life of LOVE!
So the evidence that Holy Spirit is in us is power flowing through us. Holy Spirit is the power within us to accomplish the work that God has called us to.
Remember this: Fruit is evidence that something is going on inside!
Last week we studied the gifts of the Spirit, and we see clearly they work by the power of Holy Spirit as He extends the Kingdom of God. We are sons and daughter of God empowered by His Spirit and involved in our Father's business!
But I want to take a look back at this list of fruit (notice that is it fruit not fruits) and I want us to think for a minute about this. What is the evidence that something is going on inside of us?
The definition of fruit is anything done in partnership with Christ! Fruit results from two lifestreams!
So this list of fruit is what naturally happens when we are in a relationship with Christ, as our life is infused with His life or our spirit is infused with His Spirit. The natural result is love and all the things that flow out of that love relationship!
You see our new nature is love! We were created in love and filled with love! We are the product of love relationship! For God so loved that He gave and now He has the object of His love and affection–us! Now we are in Him and He is producing in us His life which is the listed things of Gal5. This is what feels right for us. This is our new DNA. The life we are called to live now is full of this. This is where we are in harmony with our Creator.
The other things listed as the works of the flesh now cause in us discord and disharmony because they are outside our nature. That is not who we are anymore and when we are involved in those things they produce in us shame, fear, panic and don't fit who we really are anymore.

I believe we can see that the real fruit of being one with God is the amazing love that has been shed abroad in our heart by His Holy Spirit–the same love that the Father and the Son had from the beginning, the same love that created us! This love now fills us!
We need the work of Holy Spirit in our lives! We need the love relationship with Him. We need intimacy with Holy Spirit, which brings us to next week and the need for Communion with Holy Spirit!
I might even add, though I am quick to say I only suggest this is the way it has manifested in my life, that one could think this way of the fruit of the spirit listed in Gal5: I am in love with God and it has produced joy in me, which brought me into peace, and produced patience in me and caused kindness to live in me and then goodness rose up in me and caused me to be more faithful which lead me into gentleness and has caused self-control to fill my life.
Will you simply admit today that we all need Holy Spirit in our lives producing the love relationship that Jesus died to bring us into?
