1. Reflect upon a “road trip” in your past, whether a vacation adventure, a family trip, or even an individual journey to a place or destination. What lessons were gleaned from this experience? As you reflect upon Paul’s journey to Rome, what lessons do you see as particularly applicable to your own life and experience?

2. Are you prone to jump to conclusions? How do we see this error illustrated in our text, and how does God reveal Himself in “justifying” Paul through this experience? (see verses 3-6 specifically).

3. Describe the role of hospitality, appreciation, and service in this text. How is the principle of Hebrews 13:2 illustrated here? How are these same qualities evidenced in your own life?

4. In this text Paul displays many qualities and marks of character. Identify as many as you are able, and describe how they brought blessing to those around him.

5. In your own mind, what is it to leave a place better than when you found it? How is this seen in our text, and do you do so in your own comings and goings? How can this be more effectively witnessed in your life?

6. What do we learn of God and His work in this text? Review verse 14 for a moment. Why is this single verse such a powerful reminder of God’s work all along in Paul’s journey?
